Overview

Under general supervision manages key operational component of a project.  Works with some autonomy but with the oversight of a project manager or project director.

Responsibilities
    Assists with the development of the technical approach for the study; or leads the development of the technical approach for discrete research activities within larger projects. Has considerable latitude in some areas. This may involve working with project staff to design forms, procedures, and prepare timelines.
  • May be asked to recruit staff for the operation. Prepares procedural manuals and other materials to document the operation. Conducts staff trainings.
  • Directs activities of research assistants and clerks. Assists with performance evaluation of staff.
  • Has direct client contact on various issues related to the operational area. Works with professional staff from other organizations (participants, collaborators, PIs) as needed to accomplish task.
  • Collaborates with other project areas as needed to accomplish assignment, such as the TRC, or lab.
  • Monitors production of the activities within the operational area. Produces regular data reports and projections.
  • Directs and reviews the quality of the work of subcontractor and vendor staff as needed.  
  • Provides input to programming staff for the development or enhancement of study management systems and other data collection and operations applications.  
  • Meets with project manager and other project staff regularly. Provides information to assist the project manager to track costs. Alerts project manager when problems arise or issues affecting budget or schedule arise.  
  • Develops and maintains documentation for the operational area. Documents circumstances during data collection that may impact data quality.
  • Contributes to or leads monthly technical project reports.  
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Excellent organization and verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Masters in public health or related field, and at least two years of relevant research experience.
