About the Department | The Police Department of North Carolina State University is a CALEA and IACLEA accredited law enforcement agency. The agency provides a full array of police and security services with 54 full-time sworn officers and 17 non-sworn staff members. The department is operational 24-hours/365 days a year and has mutual aid and extraterritorial jurisdiction agreements with adjacent municipalities and law enforcement agencies. The 911 Center operates 24/7/365, is staffed by 9 Emergency Communications Officers (ECO), and fields approximately 88,000 calls annually. |

Minimum Experience/Education | High School diploma and sufficient experience to demonstrate ability to work under pressure. Additional Education and Experience will be necessary for progressive steps (Journey and Advanced). Requires certification as a Division of Criminal Information computer operator or the ability to achieve certification within 45 days of employment. May require Basic Telecommunicator Certification in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
