Position Summary
The Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, Department of Health Sciences, UNC School of Medicine, invites applications for a fixed term or tenure- track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of communication sciences and disorders with a focus on autism or early intervention. Responsibilities include teaching at the master's and doctoral levels, research, academic advising, mentoring of Ph.D. students, and leadership within clinical initiatives, such as the current Novant Health collaboration through the Department of Health Sciences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Qualifications:1) a doctoral degree in speech-language pathology or a related area and 2) evidence of excellence in research and scholarship in communication sciences and disorders. Candidates must have an active research agenda and excellent potential for obtaining extramural funding.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The preferred candidate should have clinical and research expertise in screening, assessment and intervention with young children with autism and other developmental disabilities including speech-language disorders and delays. Preference will be given to applicants with at least 5 years of experience in autism diagnosis, including (a) a strong working knowledge of autism screening procedures, (b) experience working with interdisciplinary teams on autism diagnosis and engaging with children and families during the diagnostic process, and proficiency administering and scoring of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2).

Additionally, the preferred candidate must show evidence of covering 65% FTE through external grants and contracts. We are interested in recruiting a candidate with strong experience in team science, so qualifying roles on funded grants is not restricted to principal investigator
