Tenured/Tenure Track Faculty
Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development

The School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites nominations and applications for an open rank senior level tenured/tenure-track faculty position (9-month). This tenured/tenure track faculty position will also hold a secondary appointment (12-month) as the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development.

UNC and its School of Social Work are national leaders in research: UNC is the tenth top-ranked university in the U.S. for federal research, and the UNC School of Social Work ranks seventh compared to other universities. The school's nearly $22 million research enterprise is driven by numerous research programs, labs, centers, and institutes within the school, as well as by collaborations with partners from other schools, centers, and institutes across campus.

The Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development will be a member of the Dean's senior administrative team and will support the overall research efforts and development of faculty at the School of Social Work. The Associate Dean will manage the Office of Strategic Research Priorities (OSRP) and provide leadership to promote extramurally funded research in the school.

Candidates should have an exceptional record of externally funded research, publications, and teaching, all in relation to career stage. A distinguished professorship (the Berg-Beach Distinguished Professor of Community Social Work) is available for suitable candidates. As a public research university, we embrace the translation of evidence in service to our state, the nation, and in international settings. The proposed effective date for this faculty position is July 1, 2024.

We welcome applications from individuals whose research advances knowledge relevant to social work practice and policy across a range of substantive areas. This range includes applicants whose research examines the intersection of systems and policies that may perpetuate racially, socially, and economically unjust conditions, as well as applicants whose research is focused on groups that have been systematically excluded.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must possess a doctorate in social work or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Degrees in social work are preferred; post MSW practice experience is highly valued.
