Job Description

Mott MacDonald is seeking a graduate Transportation Planner for immediate employment to support our growing transportation planning practice in our Raleigh, NC office. Our team is a leader in this field, combining transportation planning, engineering, and digital analytics to develop innovative solutions that have a strong focus on social outcomes and help our clients make decisions that will have a lasting impact in the coming decades.

As a Planner working as an integral part of the Mott MacDonald team, your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Support the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) planning documents in accordance with accepted practice
  • Support the preparation of public involvement materials associated with transportation projects
  • Manage and assist with planning tasks, as assigned
  • Support the preparation of planning reports
  • Support the research and technical writing associated with preparation of Federal grant applications
  • Exhibits good technical writing skills
  • Receives objectives and technical advice from supervisor
  • Engaging with clients and the public as projects require

Candidate Specification

We welcome applications from candidates with the following core competencies and characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 0-5 years' experience in transportation planning or similar field
  • Good communications skills, both oral and written
  • Attention to detail and ability to perform quality review of draft documents
  • Willingness to learn through on-the-job experience and to expand professional experience/qualifications beyond current area of expertise
  • Ability to organize data in an efficient manner and to handle multiple tasks concurrently with shifting priorities
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • GIS experience desirable, but not required.
