What You'll Do

Role Overview:

Responsible for drawing on their knowledge of complex precision machining to create multi-axis CNC programs for the fabrication and finishing of 3D printed metal parts for various industries. The Sr. Finishing Machinist will program and set-up the equipment in our machining department which includes, mills, lathes, wire EDM, and various other equipment.

Details:

  • Create custom CNC programs from customer supplied 3D CAD files at an intermediate level.
  • Design custom tooling and fixtures for CNC & EDM operations.
  • Plan, estimate, and quote machining jobs by reviewing electronic drawings, customer specifications, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) at an intermediate level.
  • Machine parts consistent with medical device, consumer electronics, and aerospace industry requirements. Machining will be performed on 3D printed metal near-net shape parts.
  • Maintain specifications by observing good machining practices and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Set up and operate mills, lathes, wire EDM and other machining equipment to finish custom 3D printed prototyping and production jobs
  • Clean and maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Willingness and ability to train other finishing area techs on machining tasks for back-up coverage and cross training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What You Need:

  • Current ability to program and run CNC equipment 3+ years CNC machining with multi-axis mill and lathes, 1+ years of programming multi-axis machines
  • Experience with 3 and 5 axis machines, soft and hard metal machining
  • Experience with 3D CAD software and tool pathing software (Solidworks, MasterCAM, etc.)
  • Ability to understand 2D drawings with dimensional tolerances
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics
  • Ability to use a computer and calculator.
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, team oriented environment
  • Must be punctual and have good attendance

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
You're standing out with:
  • Trade school certificate in CNC programing or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Haas machine tools, high speed machining

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for the entire shift; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reaching, bending, grasping, The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing setting requiring normal safety precautions (eye protection and hearing protection). Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
