About the Department | The University Benefits Office of North Carolina State University administers statutory and voluntary benefit programs, as authorized by the General Assembly of North Carolina, the Office of State Personnel, and the University Group Insurance and Benefits Committee for over 8000 faculty and staff employees. The University Benefits office is responsible for managing the overall design, compliance, administration, communication, implementation and maintenance of benefit programs. In addition to health/welfare and retirement benefits, the University Benefits office also has responsibility of directing Employee Recognition, New Employee Orientation (Onboarding), and Leave Administration. |
Essential Job Duties | The Benefit System Specialist will serve as part of the University Human Resources Benefits team and will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the integration between our Benefit/Payroll modules (Peoplesoft) and vendor systems, primarily focusing on benefit-related data. This position will oversee routine data processes to ensure data integrity and will provide daily functional and analytical system support for benefit-related data. The Benefit System Specialist will also be responsible for data analysis to identify trends, improve processes, and regularly audit data to identify errors. With the complexity of ongoing changes in both federal and state legislation with regard to benefits and leave programs; requirements by the State and UNC System to utilize their systems and processes, such as ORBIT, Empyrean, Marpai, and EBenefits platform, upgrades to the University HR system; and the continuous need to restructure responsibilities to accommodate organizational needs/objectives, a Specialist with high working knowledge or ability to quickly master knowledge of the functionality of PeopleSoft is required to effectively and efficiently support the department's growing business needs. |
Other Responsibilities | This position will support the work of the department as needed and assigned by the Director of Employee Benefits and Programs. |
Minimum Experience/Education | Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
