HDR is looking for a North Carolina Wastewater Process Lead to join our Water Business Group team in Charlotte, Winston-Salem, or Raleigh, NC. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical interest in wastewater treatment through evaluation, planning, design, and construction phases. They will provide process design, detailed design services, mentor staff, support business development, and manage projects. They will be supported by engineers and technical staff in other disciplines and will coordinate with sub-consultants. They will also be expected to maintain project schedules and budgets, and team with our Wastewater Market Sector Leader to grow the HDR wastewater practice.

Additional responsibilities could include:

  • Taking resonsibility for wastewater practice technical development
  • Participation in local and national conferences
  • Participation in wastewater business class practice groups, including research-based proposals and projects
  • Conducting project and quality control reviews
  • Having contact with clients regarding ongoing projects and tasks; this position will require occasional field visits for meetings and construction observation
  • Providing leadership to clients and team members (100% of the time)
  • Performing QA/QC of internal and external deliverables
  • Working closely with project engineers, engineers in training, and CAD/GIS professionals to execute projects including reports and other technical documents
  • Managing, supervising, and mentoring team members, providing technical direction and services, staff administration, and overseeing quality of deliverables
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field) required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 10 years of wastewater treatment project experience
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Must have excellent communication skills and thrive working in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • North Carolina PE or ability to obtain NC PE in six months preferred
  • MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related field) a plus
  • Wastewater treatment regulatory experience preferred
  • Local candidates are preferred
