RBC Bank is hiring a Unsecured Lending Product Owner who is responsible for defining and prioritizing the backlog of stories associated with the credit decisioning tool, customer and advisor facing digital channels (account boarding) and back office operations (deposit operations, credit underwriting) for RBC Bank U.S. The PO is responsible for ensuring the team is aligned with the customer experience, journey vision, strategy, and requirements for which they are accountable. The ideal candidate is a problem solver with a solid understanding of customer experience, integrating system, developing and communicating the product vision, planning, and project management.

Job Description

What will you do?

  • Champion efforts to attain objectives and key results for digital transformation; Serves as direct representative of the business with delivery teams, representing/reinforcing the customers' perspective throughout the product realization cycle
  • Partner with sponsors, stakeholders, and IT to facilitate, define and document relevant business processes, gaining a proficient understanding of the needs, measures, and risks & controls for the improvement area
  • Evangelize the vision for a deeply integrated and consistent, joined up, end-to-end digital experience between the channel and back office operations
  • Lead story mapping sessions to facilitate requirements gathering with stakeholders
  • Serve as customer-proxy on the development team, responsible for creating Epics and prioritizing user stories that clearly describe the functional and non-functional requirements
  • Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with SMEs from the functional units using standard techniques such one-on-one or group interviews
  • Work with business and Enterprise stakeholders to understand and validate business strategy and vision, and customer needs
  • Work with the business process owners to develop metrics to manage and track benefits, adoption and risks
  • Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of all work items, such as new features, defects, etc., including providing the decision to create, fix or defer at the project level
  • Review, accept and prioritize feedback and new requirements from stakeholder
  • Review and accept or decline output of development to ensure specified acceptance criteria have been completed
  • Prepare the business for the change and arm them with tactics and metrics for benefits, adoption, and risk

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Business, Technology, or military experience
  • 5+ years Product Owner or Journey Owner experience or related experience (e.g. Project Manager, Scrum Master, Business Analyst, Business subject matter expert, etc.)
  • 5+ years direct knowledge and experience with online banking, online account opening, and unsecured credit card lending
  • Strong understanding of the business and stakeholder needs
  • Strong business analysis skills
  • Proven experience in translating strategy into tactical execution
  • Demonstrated performance working with multiple vendors to launch new product
  • Proven experience in translating strategy into tactical execution

  • Expert influential communication skills, able to indirectly influence others, and collaborates in insightful problem solving
  • Amazingly positive outlook

Nice-to-have:

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Prior Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) experience
  • HFI certification or equivalent
  • Agile certification
  • Credit decisioning, direct lending platform experience
