We are looking for a Liability Claims Manager to join our team! Primarily a remote/work from home opportunity in the Raleigh, NC or Dallas, TX areas. However, must be able to go into the office on an as needed basis.

PURPOSE

Serves as the subject matter expert for a centralized Claims Management function and is responsible for managing activities related to Liability claims. Serves as the primary contact point with insurers, TPA's, Regional HR, Safety, Legal and Field Management driving the goal to reduce claim costs and expenses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as the direct contact within the company and with insurers, brokers, and outside counsel for assigned liability claims.
  • Provides instruction, support, and guidance to the involved managers regarding incidents and claims.
  • Oversees a caseload of assigned liability claims from initial reporting to closure/settlement, resourcing HR, Safety, Legal and other departments as necessary.
  • Manages subrogation of claims, as applicable.
  • Serves as the company's representative with attorneys, physicians, case workers, adjusters, accident reconstruction specialists, medical review vendors and others to exchange information, explain and interpret facts and resolve differences.
  • Analyzes investigative information and report findings and recommendations to management. Prepares status reports to notify senior management of large losses, upcoming trials and recommendations for reserve and settlement authority.
  • Works with insurance company/adjuster and location leadership to proactively manage claims and reduce the expenses associated with them. Alerts management to possible safety concerns.
  • Conducts regular claim audits and documents reviews in company RMIS system. Ensures RMIS claim files are kept current with routine claim reviews and uploading of supporting investigation & claim documentation.
  • Supports discovery efforts in litigated cases.
  • Reviews and interprets policy language and coverage.
  • Performs monthly claim review calls with Market/Region leadership to provide regular updates on active Liability claim matters with a focus on steps being taken to resolve the case while also providing the education/mitigation strategies to local leadership teams.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Insurance/Risk Management, Public Administration or related field;
  • Four (4) years of corporate risk management, liability claims handling, or brokerage experience;
  • AIC, CPCU, ARM, and or CRM designation desired.
