Job Description

Job Summary: reporting to the Chief Business Officer, this role is responsible for defining the business development strategy for the North America region and manage the business representatives assigned to the respective region.

  • Define the business strategy for the responsible region and define concrete goals to ensure successful completion by the business representatives reporting to this role.

  • Coach and support team members to build and foster relationships with new and existing clients in the assigned sales region contribute to the overall company goals.

  • Coach and support team members in identifying, evaluating and developing strategic biopharmaceutical business opportunities to provide KBI services for clients developing and commercializing biopharmaceutical drugs and cascade down to the team assigned for execution.

  • Establishes and implements appropriate development strategies to support business objectives. Interacts as a team player with internal proposal development and scientific teams to generate proposals that are well align with client needs. Ability to present proposals to internal management to gain internal support and proposal approval for new client relationships and programs.

Strategy definition: define and develop the most appropriate business strategy for the defined region to ensure successful achievement of company objectives. Cascade down the agreed upon strategy to the business development representatives under their supervision and ensure necessarily follow up of completion. 40%

Team management: Responsible of the oversight of business development representatives in the respective region. Responsible to define the strategy and necessary actions and ensure completion through defined KPIs for the respective team. Coach and manage performance, hire new team members when required. 40%

Lead generation: Support identification and development of new customer base and build relationships with leading biopharmaceutical organizations to provide biopharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and testing services. Work with marketing to make social media ads and webinars etc. to generate new leads.10%

Establish and develop relationships with key senior management at targeted potential new customers.5%

Lead exhibiting efforts for assigned conferences in your sales region. Prepare and deliver customized sales presentations to senior leadership or key stakeholders. 5%

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 7+/10+ years (Sr Dir/VP) of scientific and/or business development experience in the biotechnology or biopharmaceutical services industry.

Advanced degree in a scientific discipline with 5+/8+ years (Sr Dir/VP) of scientific and/or business development experience in the biotechnology or biopharmaceutical services industry.

Experience leading a sales team

Experience selling services for a CDMO

Additional experience in scientific roles is a plus.

Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills are required.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to draft presentations and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to senior management peer group, employee groups, customers and/or the boards of directors. Ability to quickly convey thoughts by text message as needed for urgent business issues. A focus on listening to customers and building relationships is very important.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, graphs, etc.,) to understand internal technical presentations and client presentations. Ability to understand the technical content enough to identify and provide unique and practical scientific solutions to meet client needs for development.

Computer Skills:

Word processing, Spreadsheets proficiency and accuracy, Power Point w/ attention to detail, Internet, E-mail, Calendar Management, Webex functions, CRM expertise and daily updating is required

Working Conditions:

Salary Range:

Vice President: $220,000.00 - $302,500.00 plus a tiered commission structure

Senior Vice President: $248,786 - $342,081.00 plus a tiered commission structure

Salary range provided per current averages and expectations. The salary and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
