Elwyn Adult Behavioral Health Service's Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program
is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) to join our team. In this fulfilling role, you'll play a vital role in supporting young adults and older adults with severe mental illness on their unique paths to wellness. You'll leverage your lived experience and professional skills to provide therapeutic support, facilitate peer groups, and advocate for consumer needs within our innovative program.


$16 - $18 / hour. $2000 sign-on bonus. Comprehensive Benefits.
8 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday.



Elwyn's Program: Supporting Recovery and Independence


Our program provides a staff-supported, therapeutic, center-based, consumer-driven environment focused on empowering individuals with mental illness. We offer a variety of psycho-educational and skill-building workshops designed to address specific challenges and promote recovery. Our strengths-based approach emphasizes:

  • Symptom Stability: Helping individuals manage symptoms effectively to improve overall well-being.
  • Increased Coping Skills: Developing strategies for managing stress, emotions, and daily challenges.
  • Highest Level of Functioning: Supporting individuals in achieving their full potential in the community.
  • Recovery and Resiliency: Encouraging a growth mindset and fostering self-reliance.
  • Rehabilitation and Person-Centered Care: Tailoring interventions to individual needs to manage behavioral health conditions, improve daily living skills, and increase independence.
  • Transitioning to Lower Levels of Care: Equipping individuals with the tools and confidence to thrive in less intensive support settings.



Here's what you'll do as a CPS in this program:

  • Build Trust & Individualize Care: Connect with new consumers, assess their needs, and co-create personalized plans for mental health, daily living, and social connection.
  • Developing a Wellness Recovery Action Plan: Guide individuals in identifying personal strategies and tools to maintain daily wellness.
  • Facilitate Peer Support & Advocate: Lead support groups, inspire with your recovery story, and champion consumer needs for a coordinated care approach.
  • Promote Recovery & Maintain a Safe Space: Integrate best practices into daily interactions, cultivate a positive environment, and document progress for effective communication.
  • Offer Practical Support: Assist consumers with transportation, connect them to resources, and provide practical help when needed.



To thrive in this role, you'll possess:

  • High school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree in Human Services a plus).
  • Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) credential with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ideally, a lived experience with mental illness and at least one year of active recovery (self-attested).
  • A genuine passion for helping others and a commitment to recovery-oriented care.
  • Crisis intervention experience and a willingness to participate in ongoing training.
  • Valid Driver's License.
