Dewberry's vibrant Raleigh, NC office includes over 200 design professionals, with an electrical telecommunications department focused on providing low-voltage systems design services for clients in North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. Our telecom design experience includes federal, state and local government projects, justice & correction projects, healthcare projects, higher education, schools, and more. Besides the telecom department, the Raleigh office has large, focused mechanical, electrical, plumbing/fire protection and structural technical departments.

Because our backlog continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Telecommunications Designer for our electrical telecommunications department in our Raleigh, NC office. Our telecom department is led by an RCDD-certified department manager. Your duties will include but not be limited to design, construction drawing production, specification writing, discipline coordination between the various trades, shop drawing and submittal reviews, construction site reviews, and code reviews.

Responsibilities
    Design and specification of telecommunications systems including head-end equipment, and backbone & horizontal distribution of security, access controls, audio-visual systems; and backbone & horizontal distribution of data systems infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior staff.
  • Interface with code officials and contractors, working with architects and clients, and working with other engineering disciplines.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Two-year degree.
  • RCDD is a plus, but not required.
  • Fire alarm system design experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Minimum 10-15 years directly applicable to telecommunications design experience required.
  • Must have ability to generate big picture ideas and solutions at the beginning stage of projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of typical building interior and exterior telecommunications infrastructure from utility service, ductbanks, MDF & IDF closets & racks, raceway, cable tray, cabling, and end-user interfaces & activations.
  • Extensive experience developing low-voltage system, point-to-point, wiring diagrams.
  • Capable of editing telecommunications equipment specifications, staying current with latest trends and capabilities in the telecommunications industry.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including experience in dealing with other employees and external clients.
  • Some local travel will be required for field investigations.
  • Interpreting engineering specifications and investigating problems.
  • Coordinating work schedules and preparing progress reports.
  • Construction cost estimation experience is a plus.
