Construction Materials Senior Engineer

S&ME is currently seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with expertise in Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspections to join our dynamic team in Lexington, KY.


As a Construction Materials Senior Engineer, you will serve as senior engineer for medium to large Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections projects, ensuring the highest level of quality and compliance with industry standards. You will work closely with clients, project teams, and laboratory staff to deliver successful projects while upholding our commitment to excellence. You will also have the opportunity to mentor other professionals and field-based staff in client development and project management.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Client Engagement: Engaging closely with clients to grasp their unique project needs and going the extra mile to ensure their utmost satisfaction.
  • Revenue Growth and Networking: Cultivating a robust local client base and expanding your professional network to drive revenue growth that aligns with our ambitious financial goals.
  • Development Leadership: Taking the lead in local and regional business development endeavors, amplifying our presence through strategic marketing efforts.
  • Proposals: Crafting meticulous field and laboratory cost estimates and proposals tailored to project specifications, International Building Code (IBC) standards, and client preferences.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil, Mining, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering or closely related field
  • A Professional Engineer(PE) license in Kentucky, or able to obtain your KY PE within 6 months
  • 10+ years of experience in Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections
  • You have a strong working knowledge of applicable ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and procedures, IBC Special Inspections, and geotechnical recommendations
  • You are willing to work outside, maneuver equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.
