Field Exploration Operations Manager

We are seeking a talented and experienced Field Exploration Operations Manager to manage our field exploration team supporting drilling-related projects in Charleston, South Carolina.


As a Field Exploration Operations Manager, you will oversee drilling-related projects and lead a team to achieve safety, profitability, and growth objectives. Your responsibilities include staff management, promoting innovative approaches to site characterization, and optimizing rig utilization for efficient project completion. Additionally, you will provide leadership on exploration practices, budget planning, and cross-selling of services to support overall firm goals and client interests.


Your Day-to-Day:

  • Team Management: Manage exploration team members, including recruitment, training, and mentoring, to maximize performance.
  • Safety and Profitability: Promote safety, profitability, and growth within the exploration service line, aligning with strategic plans.
  • Rig Utilization: Drive rig utilization, coordinate scheduling and manage labor to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Innovative Approaches: Demonstrate and lead innovative approaches to site characterization to enhance project outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Provide leadership and direction on exploration practices, budget planning, and cross-selling of services to support firm objectives and client interests.

What You Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree and/or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • 5+ years' of experience in field exploration
  • Experience managing personnel and operations including scheduling and dispatching resources, and mentoring
  • The ability to travel to different project sites and offices within different states when required
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of multiple exploration methods including auger, mud rotary and coring techniques in addition to in-situ testing.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough and uneven terrain
  • Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
